About Picture It!

Picture It! sight word flashcards have been designed to help any English language learner master tricky sight words. Each of the tricky letters in the sight words have a graphic imbedded to help the learner associate the picture with the tricky letter(s). The graphics work together to tell a story that appears in the sentence beneath each word. Using a simple three-step process, any learner can memorize the spelling of these advanced sight words with the help of these helpful graphics.

1. Study the card and read the sentence or have someone read the sentence to the learner. Keep studying the card until it can be pictured with eyes closed.

2. Close your eyes and describe which pictures are in which letters.

3. Without looking at the card, try and spell the word.

Repeat until the word is committed to memory.

The cards can be used independently or with the help of another person. If the learner is asked to spell the word to check for mastery and has trouble remembering the pictures, prompt them with the sentence and let them try again. If that fails, then just repeat the three-step process.
